Lierna

The wine country

Lierna is situated on the east coast of Como Lake, between Mandello del Lario and Varenna. In the village there are 11 districts, some of these are situated on the hills and present a typical medieval structure.

Above all, this wonderful village is known for its beach, one of the biggest beaches of Como Lake, called La Riva Bianca for the colors of its stones.
Tourists also know and appreciate the Castle of Lierna, situated on a natural promontory and built for defensive purpose. You also can’t miss the Church of Sant’Ambrogio, whose Romanian bell-tower is one of the most ancient of the region.

Furthermore, if you love wine, you are in the right place, this village is also called “the Wine Village” thanks to its vineyards and wine cellars.

Even though it is a very little village, Lierna is a village to discover for its fairy-tale
beauty.
