Abbadia Lariana

A characteristic town between beaches and mountains

Abbadia Lariana is very next to Lecco and its name comes from a Benedectine Monastery founded in the VIII Century. You can still find a proof of its Medieval Origins in the Torri di Guardia in the Crebbio neighborhood.

The most characteristic element of this nice village is the equipped beach where you can relax, swim and practice water sports. Another point of strength of Abbadia is the Cenghen fallen which  flows on the Mount Grigna. Even though it is on the Mountain, it is a very easy itinerary, suitable for everyone, also for children and, if you follow the indication carefully you can easily find the fallen, a peaceful and beautiful oasis.

Furthermore, if you follow the mountain itinerary, you can also reach the Piani Resinelli, under the Grigna Mount (1300). It is a savage charm in which nature dominates everything in every season and with all the climate conditions. It is also a good idea to visit the mine of Piani Resinelli, a quiet excursion, above all for children, which can be made with expert guides.

In Abbadia there are also cultural places, indeed, in the city centre you can visit the silk museum, inaugurated in 1998. The visit is interactive and  engaging and it allows visitors to observe ancient equipments and the silk cycle with guided itineraries.

The typical cooking is a lake cooking, in which there are also mountain flavors such as Polenta Taragna and Polenta Uncia. The typical recipe is a mix of fried fish with Alborelle, Agoni, Pesce Persico and Lavarello. You can taste this fresh products in the restaurants directly on the lake.

In Abbadia you can have nature, relax, sport, adventure and cooking.
