Colico

Un'oasi immersa nella natura

Colico is an oasis surrounded by natural elements, especially by the clean water of the Como Lake and the huge Mount Legnone(2601).The flat area along the lake, which in the past was marshy, today offers a lot of facilities and touristic structures, including a large beach with a unique panorama on the Alps.

Colico has also historical, cultural, architectural attractions, in fact, here you can find some very important monuments. The most significant monuments are The Piona Abbey, dedicated to Santa Maria and ordained in 1138 by the Como Bishop, the Church of San Bernardino, whom huge and harmonious  façade conveys a sense of geometric equilibrium, the Church of S. Elena Fontanedo, built in XV century and others. 
Furthermore, you can also find historical proofs of different historic eras, such as the Forte di Fuentes, which had a defensive goal, the Forte Aldo Lussardi al Montevecchio Nord, which remains the only fort which still conserves its original intact armament.

The Torre di Fontanedo, built in 1357and with a typical medieval structure and Villa Malpensata(1537) which was an aristocratic house.
So, Colico is a calm village surrounded by an uncontaminated nature and very important historic witnesses.
